Does any one have a source for the replacement brake shoes for the transmission mounted parking brake on a M300 1972 Brave. Dodge part number 2240-637
I also was advised Wagner made replacement shoes at one time. Part number #75?

Thanks

Sorry -

Wagner doesn't make much today for older vehicles, I think sometimes, and I've been one of their distributors for 40 years!

The correct part number is #95, it is a 7 +- inch size and no one offers these today, unless NAPA does, but I do not know. Raybestos, Bendix, Wagner stopped making these years ago. You can get a heavy duty truck shop to reline them, price unknown.

BTW, none of the hard parts within the drum assembly are available, so it pays to baby all of this if it needs to be functional for you... I would paint over all springs and lubricate all sliding surfaces on a regular schedule, say every 2 years... otherwise, if one small part goes, you will not be able to find anything, to the best of my knowledge - I've received calls from Australia looking for these items!

So to clarify, I offer service brake parts to stop the vehicle, but none of the parking brake system is available on any Class A model.

Thanks Geoff,

I already got all the other parts from you earlier. Thanks again everything worked perfect. Your right about the weird 7 inch size, even the reline guys are scratching their heads on that one. All the hardware is in good shape so I'm lucky so far

According to the "parts voice" search link found on the Arizona Parts site, this part may be available from Mitchell Motor Parts, Inc. Fairmont, GA, or Brad's NOS Parts West Columbia, SC.

Geoff,

We'll be in New England until it starts getting cold.  I have heard that there is a shop adjuct to your place of business.  Would it be possible, and do you recommend these guys, to check out my brakes while we are up here? Also, since we are currently full-timing it, how long will we have to stay in a hotel while the brakes are serviced?...lol.

Kevin -

I'm not sure what the source of your facts are here, but there is not a repair facility adjacent to my warehouse, per se, that I could recommend for MHC brake repair.

You are probably referring to an excellent facility with very consciencious ownership and the appropriate knowledge to work on these vehicles, but it is 25 miles away in Everett, Ma. These folks are always busy, so making an appointment a week or so in advance would minimize disruption in your schedule. Depending on the level of work, one or two days is not unusual. Boston is a major national tourist destination, after all... How bad can that be? We have a very active and vibrant downtown! Lots of history to explore!

The business in question is State Auto Spring and the owner is a very down to earth fellow named Bernie. He has more than 25 years in the under vehicle business, but the company has been ongoing for 80 years! Bernie is the first non-family owner, but he apprenticed there and has all his experience under the second and third generation owner, who recently retired.

As the name implies, State does more than just brakes, but exhaust, steering/suspension/springs, and brakes. The number is 617-387-0600 and you would want to ask for Bernie and explain your situation clearly. That way there is less chance to have your time squandered by the schedules of others. Please let me know directly as well what you are planning as any parts you may need would need to be planned out for delivery.

Yours,

Geoff

That's great to know, Geoff, and thanks!!!  We'll be staying here in Connecticut until September 12th, so we'll get in touch with Bernie soon and see what we can work out.  I'll keep you posted as to when we'll be there, so we can get any parts that might be needed in a timely fashion.

Thanks again for the quick response!
