Can I have my brake rotors "turned", as opposed to buying new? I thought I read somewhere it can be done, as long as the finished rotors are 1.4x" thick..?

Is this something any ordinary place that turns rotors can do?

Yes, they can be turned.. provided that they will still be above the min. thickness afterwards. In other words, if they are at 1.420" now, and it will takes .022" cutting to machine them smooth and true, they can't be turned. But if it will only take .010" to clean them up, then they would still be above the min. thickness afterwards. All depends on how bad they are and how warped.
You can try an O'reilly's or NAPA, but they may not be able to handle that size rotor. You might have to find a HD truck repair shop to do it. They should have the larger brake lathe needed for bigger trucks.
I reserve the right to reject your reality and substitute my own...

Sometimes it helps just getting them of the axle cleaning everything, sand the surfaces and bolt it back together.
