How long does a 70's Winnebago LP oven need to preheat?

I have the original oven in my 1973 Winnebago and we're going camping for the first time this weekend. Planning on using the oven, but since I've only ever used electric ovens (with fancy bells that alert you when it's preheated) I was wondering if there was a round-about time it takes for the small gas oven to preheat to a temp of 350 or so? I could buy a thermometer but I'm trying not to buy things all the time.

Thanks!

It doesn't take that long, maybe 10 minutes tops.  If its working right, you'll see the burner go out (pilot still lit) once it reaches temperature.

Have you lit your oven yet?  They aren't like a regular house oven.  There is a learning curve to go through.  Speaking from experience, don't wait until you are away from home to figure it out.

Yes, I've tested it... I tried everything before going camping because I'm super careful, haha. Thanks for the advice.

I had a newer model and it also took about 10 minutes.

Sometimes if I haven't been out in a while the pilot takes a minute or two, and then once temp set the other side of the burner doesn't light so I wait for that too and will flick the lighter at that side which is usually opposite the side of the pilot....  then yes.. 10+....  and yes my safety propane gas monitor sits in the wall below the oven to the left, fridge is 2' away... just in case.... propane sinks to floor...  something you might want to invest in....

Most dishes doesn't need to be preheated. I can only think of pizza, baking bread and cake as things which really needs preheating.

Every other meal you can just light the flame and put it in. You can not use the time on the recipe now, it's a little more, but still less then = preheating + recipe time. Saves time and fuel.

Preheating comes from a time where fuel and energy was costing next to nothing. Housewife's had a bunch of time and would like to have to set the clock exactly.

I agree completely with eXodus on this. Unless it is some sort of baked good, the food and the oven both need to come up to temp, so there is no reason why they cannot do it at the same time. Saves energy and gets dinner on the table faster.

I also turn the oven off a little while (maybe 5 min) before the food is done cooking if I think about it. Why waste energy.

That said, I mostly use the oven in the MH for Pizza, cobbler or biscuts. Mine also takes about 10 min. to come up to temp.

Yep, 10 minutes was just right... made my wife some of her frozen pasta (Lean Cuisine) TV dinners while camping...

Also made some boiled asparagus for my wife and chicken quesadillas for myself...
