Can I attach leads to the generator DC outlet to charge batteries?

Hi all So, I bought a generator to carry in my D21 basement to charge my computer and plug the Winny into. The generator also has a 12 volt DC outlet. Could I attach leeds from that outlet to a battery and charge it up sort of like how a alternator does?  i??

Depends on the brand of generator and it's 12VDC output specs.
