What make is this heater control?

I tried searching but I cannot find the thread that had this information in it. I need to know if this is Dodge, Chevy, Ford and what year so I can get a new one. It is in my 89 31 foot Chieftain. Thanks.

I know that this isn't a sure-fire way of telling, but it looks like an HVAC control that Chrysler used in the '80s.  That may help to narrow it down a bit.  Rick

looks like a PO switch out.. not original... know that the rheostats (sp?) are $$ for the fan switch anyway.  I'd say pull it and see if there is a mod # etc on it somewhere.

Yours is identical to mine which is original. Same engine, chassis, couple of years difference, so I'd suspect it is  GM product.
Gather you are having a problem with yours?

Heater system was installed by Winnebago (not GM).  They, and many other RV Mfg's, used a Dodge based design into the late 90's.

Thanks, Dave.
I assumed that as the controls are somewhat directly tied into the Water Pump and AC Pump that they would be a part of the chassis/engine package bought by Winnebago.
However, given ducting/venting/tie-in with rear heat, not to mention dash configuration and bezels, makes sense that it would be a Winnebago supplied, configured and installed item.

Well, I am going to do a little more looking but I have to say that the above link for the Cummins pick up is spot on right down to the plug and lines. I am going to lean towards Dodge on this one. Actually I am going to walk out a little later and look at my 84 Chevy pick up and see what it looks like. It does not have A/C but it should look either the same or completely different. I agree that because it is on a Chevy chassi that it should use Chevy parts but remember, Winnebago was based on Dodge chassis for many years before this. I think they only went to the Chevy P30 because Dodge did not have a chassis that fit the bill for something that big.

OK, Went out and checked plus did some online checking and Chevrolet all used the blower switch on the left. Mine is on the right. Guess that eliminates Chevy.

As far as what is wrong with it, the blower switch is iffy, you put any pressure on it and it will stop working plus as you can see in the pics, the tabs for holding it down are broken on the right. I can most likely fix this one but I do not feel like having to take it apart on the road to get it working nor do I want to chance it catching on fire due to an internal loose wire. I have been in this business far too long and electrical was my specialty so I have seen it all. These are still available so I would just as soon put a new one in and then look at the old one and maybe repair it.

The heater control looks exactly like the ones my father had in his Pontiacs.  Could it be something other than Chevy or Dodge specific?  Maybe simply GM?  Or, is it possible they weren't automotive brand made specfically, but made by a mfg and purchased by GM for installation in their vehicles?

To add to the confusion, the electronic instrument panel (option) on the 87 chieftain RU33 was from Chrysler.

I think that has a lot of merit, most of the electronics out there are from Delphi, in all brands. These switches are not going to be made in house and I guess it is possible that they may use the same switch in a couple of brands of cars. Not likely, but possible. I thought it was the same as Chevy until I looked closer and realized that the only difference was the blower switch is on the opposite side.

I ran one of the visible part numbers on that control for the dodge with the cummins and it is a mopar number.

The part number I can see is for the switch assembly. There are a bunch on ebay in both black and chrome. Here is one:

O'Reillys has the switch, just look up 90 dodge van blower switch. Less than 10 bucks.

Brian, That is not the right switch, no blower switch on it. Bluebird, is that just the blower switch or the whole assembly? The wires and vacuum lines are so tight I cannot get it out of there without pulling the dogbox and reaching up through there so it is going to be tough to get it out and I want the right parts on hand right then and there. Considering it is 25 years old I figured it is best to replace the whole thing, especially if it is the same as a 90's Dodge truck. If the one with the rotary switch has the same mounting holes I will use that since it is newer still and should fit in there.

The blower switch is separate and is less than 10 bucks. Looks like a couple small screws hold it in. You may not have to take it all the way out to change it.

Might not be a bad idea to invest in a few relays when you replace that fan control... rarely have I seen them not burned from the high amperage they carry.  Redirecting through relays would be wise.

The relays are a good idea, I wish I could find good American made or German made Bosch relays WITH sockets. No Chinese crap!  Any ideas?
