Replacing Coil springs without air bags?

I am thinking with that much overhang in the rear it actually takes weight off of the front.

It certainly does with the long rear, when I hook up my horsetrailer with about 600lbs at the tongue, my front axle gets lighter about 400lbs :P  and my rear axle gets about 1000lbs more weight.


That's why the added the Tag axle, the rear overhang does not only weight something, it distributes weight from the front axle to the rear axle.

Never got to the scale. Just took the advice from the the guy at Spectrac.    I do like the short wheelbase as it has a great turning radius. I just have to watch the tail end as it likes to swing out. 
We have a 3000 mile trip in June for 25 days.

It's 6 kids and my wife and we stay in the front half and will be pulling 5' x 10' trailer on the trip.  Maybe 10-15 gallons of water in the fresh water tank and 60 gallons of fuel. 

I took it out and ran over some speed bums at different angles and harder then I normally would, to seat the springs. Ride is a big improvement.  This Sat I'll be replacing rear drive and tag shocks, rad hoses cap/rotor, plugs and wires.

WHen I was replacing the springs the swaybar bushings have seen better days. Looking to buy some urethane bushings.   

Is there one place I could just post all the work I do on this rig in one place?  Or would it be better to spread it out over the forum.   I still have a dozen or more little jobs that I would like to share.

Turbo Advance Auto has the Urathane  swaybar bushings and clamps in a package (with grease fittings) Just measure the bar for diameter I just replaced mine due to broken clamps  Frank

If all the little jobs are to be put in one place, then it would be the  projects board.  However, those topics aren't a bucket list of "I did this, I did that, and then I did the other thing."  The projects are to be instructional and detailed as to how things are being done, step-by-step.

Small projects of an instructional, "this is how you do it" nature, such as "How to replace a front air bag" or "Mounting a TV antenna" can also be posted on the corresponding topic board.

Otherwise, simple bucket lists go on the General board.

Photo attachments need to enhance the technical content of a topic which is of a technical nature.

Family photos, unrelated topic photos, and the like can go in a photo album or in a topic on the General board and although not required, it's preferred that they are saved off-site and embedded rather than attached since that takes up disc space and bandwidth.

Read the board descriptions.  They're pretty thorough as to what types of topics to post.

Thought I’d update how the springs are doing.    My family (6 kids and my wife) took a trip for 25 days in June around 12 states from AZ out to Florida and up to Missouri and back home.
The new springs worked great.  The front of the RV left the ground twice on the trip with no issues to the suspension.  Gotta love those roads in southern LouisianaJ
I would recommend these to anyone wanting to upgrade to a stiffer spring and omitting the airbags.   
Ride is firm, stable and the new springs keeps the tires planted to the ground.  Before the replacement, the old springs were sagging and my levelling jacks would not swing down vertical before they hit the ground.
After they were installed, the levelers have plenty of clearance now.  One thing I noticed is the front is higher than the rear now.  I have all new quality shocks on the rig but will be replacing the rear coil springs and I may replace the Mor-Ryde with either coil springs or or air bags.
All in all, I’m very pleased with the new springs and would recommend them to anyone wanting to not have the headaches of the front air bags.
I have 4600mi on the new springs.
