namely draglink
Do you have a 72 M300 or M375 chassis?

This is a link to the Spicer catalog.  Page 28 and 29 have Dodge part listings.  You may be able to find what you're looking for here.

5 lug means you have a M500 chassis on the 78 that has an axle rated for 5000lbs.

For the 69
If a M300 chassis, it is rated for 3800 lbs
If a M375 chassis, it is rated for 4000 lbs.
Neither one is actually rated for the weight the M500 chassis is designed to support.

Dodge did not increase the weight ratings until 72/73
M300/RM300: 4500lbs
M400 (RM350) / M500 (RM400): 5000lbs.

Draglink
76-78 M300/M400/M500: Dodge P/N 4026505
74/75 M300: Dodge P/N 3637091
74/75 M400 (RM350) / M500 (RM400): Dodge P/N 3780545
My parts book does not list the 69 M300/M375 part numbers (starts at 73)

Different parts for different axle sizes

78 M500 used Saginaw steering gear
69 is not clear and may have either a Ross or Saginaw steering gear.

On further thought,  a 78 M500 uses disk brakes with hydroboost.  69 used drum brakes with a vacuum booster.
Master cylinder is different (front disk/rear drum vs front/rear drum)
Disk setup has a proportion valve designed to hold off applying pressure to the front disk caliper to allow the rear brake shoes to overcome spring pressure and engage the drum.  If you install front drums then the front wheel drums not be in sync with the rear drums.

I’m in desperate need of a part for my 1973 Winnebago Brave D20. I believe it has a dodge m300 chassis and a 318 v8 motor. I need a “drag link” because my steering is very loose. It’s 24 inches long. The manuals I got only showed it on one page of the parts catalog, but when I google searched the part number nothing came up anywhere. The service manual didn’t even mention a drag link at all. Perhaps it was called something different back then? It doesn’t even show up in any of the diagrams in the exact area it would be in? Could I have my chassis model wrong? I’ve called parts places all I’ve the us and nothing. I ordered two that people said were correct, they looked right but were the wrong length. Maybe it’s the same as another dodge truck model and I could order one of them? It’s a part that wears out frequently so a salvage yard would likely have ones worn like mine. Any help would be great! Perhaps you can help me post this where other classic Winnebago owners can see it and help. Thank you!

If the parts you have, Have the correct ends and are adjustable on either end for slight length differences you can modify the length by cutting and splicing a piece of non galvanized pipe ,welded in , It will take a little Engineering And a professional weld .   A template from the original (drawing) would help ! I'd give Orielly Auto Parts a shot cross reference D300.

Yes, but none of them found it for me. I didn’t try weld one to size yet because I still think I should be able to find one that’s the right size?

Thank you. I’m checking with them now.

I found the drag link that fits my 1973 Winnebago Brave ! I got it at oriellys auto parts after they cross referenced every link with the length I needed. It’s moog DS881.

Thank you all for your help!
