Only able to us half the fuel in either tank

I can only use 1/2 of the fuel in either tank. (You can guess how I learned this) I remember reading somewhere that people had problems with the pick up tubes rotting off in the fuel tanks, but I can't seem to find where I read about this.

Does anyone have experience dropping the tanks that might make this project go smoothly? Any thoughts or suggestions on these problems?

I appreciate the wealth of knowledge of those who post on these forums.

Do you have electric fuel pump(s), or jus the mechanical fuel pump of the engine???
If electric, how many (1 or 2), and where are they located???
