Kev,

My little fan is zipping along still. Maxxair wrote me back and said safe for shower if I put that bigger fancy fan (7000K) there and it will handle moisture. I wasn't sure about getting shocked on 12V if electronics went bonkers.

I trust a switch over electronics.

As far as finding the studs in the ceiling, a stud finder. Metal or wood studs does not matter, they sense change in density.

I considered that Rick.

Anyhew.

Cut a 4" X 4" square hole with new Utility Blade, just in case.  Voila!

Nice purple and white wire up there above insulation!

Reached back and Voila-2 Cross Member too Fore/Aft!

Fan arrives tomorrow ! Sweet!

Thanks!

NICE!!!  I figured you'd probably already have a framed off area for a vent fan.  The REAL Holiday Ramblers were extremely well engineered.  Not the junk of today that Monaco tries to pass off as HRs.

Kev,

You are so right on that when I looked up into the ceiling construction.  All sandwiched and packed in place like brand new up there! They ever put the wire through a plastic protector. WOW  It is just looped there so I just cut into LOOP. Easy. Purple/White

I do have one place, not here, where that stupid plastic trim piece dropped about an inch. Well not the trim piece but the slot it sticks into. This slot is steel with about 1/8" gap in it. The plastic piece has barbs on it.

There was at one time a drip here and somehow however this Steel Snap Thing is attached up there and it fell a bit. Just annoying to see it.

I have seen a little rust too. It no longer leaks and it never got on carpet but I can't figure how to get at it nor how to fix it. I was hoping, sort of, that this fan was going to be placed near it, but this is not the case so I could take a peek up there to see how this metal Catcher that catches the Plastic Trim piece is fastened to the roof system and a way to fix it. It appears I need to push it up about 1/2" which is about the amount it drooped down.

Kev, do you know how these steel things are fastened up there?

I cut back to a 14 X 14 opening using a hacksaw blade by hand using the what looks like 4 SQUARE BEAMS that were put in for the future fan. Amazing welds, I assume TIG, not sure.

I order that Butyl tape and Self level on Amazon and really slow shipping.

Might have to look locally at Lowes or HD or ACE?

No idea how the ceiling panels attach, since mine are in perfect condition and I never had to mess with them.  Just keep your roof coated with a good white elastomeric coating, all the vents and whatnot sealed with a good silicone sealant, and you shouldn't ever have to worry about it leaking again.

OK Kev,

I finished up yesterday except the interior trim piece.

Since it was installed at the peak and there is a 1/4 pitch per foot pitch I checked with airmaxx and they said just screw it on down. ie OK to bend the plastic mounting flange a lil.

I went with this but used some saved aluminum slats I had from some old lawn furniture. These are those FLAT things with the springs on the ends. Like 1/32" thick or so by 1/2" wide or 5/8" wide. You just slide them in is all since you have a big hole.

I used these behind the roof metal and drilled pilot hole through both!

This really worked well and the screws went it allot tighter since one or 2 screws did not have this backing shim plate.

I wrote to airxcel and suggested this to them they include with fan.

I hate driving screws into aluminum sheet metal since you can only go snug.

With this back plate shim you can go tight!
