Has anyone done this? I am pretty handy, just looking for some tips, I would probably not recarpet inside some cabinets, but cut along them to get the old carpet out.

Should I use staples or nails? anyone know how thick the plywood?

Look inside your cabinets and find a cut out in the floor were some wires or pipes go through and finger the hole, you should be able to feel the thickness of the plywood, staple down the pad and depending on the quality of carpet you put in, you probably will no be able to use a stretcher just a kicker to stretch it from side to side, staple down 1 edge kick it across and them staple the other edge, that's how their installed at the factory.

I'm going to redo the carpet in my '77 Brave.   I'm going to glue down carpet tiles.  Should be easier to trim and fit.

Looks like several of us are pondering the same questions. I'm planning on replacing the carpet in my 1975 21 footer. Don't know how this picture will show up but this is kind of what I had in mine. Hm?

The plywood is 1/2 in thick The factory lays the carpet before anything else is installed, Cutting along the edges of walls and cabinets is the only way to remove the original . Self stick carpet tiles are the easiest way to replace . If you find any bad wood you can cut it out with a circular saw (the smaller the blade the better) Set to 1/2 in cut, There is another 1/2 in of styerfoam under the plywood Then the sheet metal floor (that's how it is on my 1977 Mini Wini )  Frank
