Hey guys, sorry for beating a dead horse here. Trying to figure out which direction to go on tires for a 73 Brave D-20 ( I believe it's a RM350) w/ 17.5 rims. Searched the site and couldn't really nail down 100% what I can do on tires and or rims:

I saw a lot of talk of swapping the rims to a 16", but would a Dodge 17" Dually set work? Found a few sets on Craigslist for a decent price. I would assume a 17" would give the calipers more room than a 16"?

Would a 215 75 17.5 tire fit my existing 17.5 rims? Concerned they are too wide for the rear Dually.

Thanks

If your rims are 8 lug, then they should be the common 8 lugs on 6.5 pattern. Many newer 17 inch rims are not that measurement however (my Ford 1 ton is not). My best advice would be to take one of your rims and see if the holes line up.

Yea agree, after digging in there is also the coined issue.... Not easy finding coined wheels used. I have to make a call soon to either swap rims or try the 215/75 r17.5 my current non radials are looking sketchy.

Most older 8-lug dodges are coined. You may find a set of 17s that were an upgrade package on some of them. Many people have made the 16s work. You could also stick with Bias Plys. Many people here run them (myself included), as do a lot vintage vehicle / military truck people. The hardest part for most people is finding someone to work on them. Where I live, for instance, there is only one place in a 50 mile radius that does them.

Yea that's my concern sticking with the bias, love vintage but I feel radials are safer with a family. Thanks for the heads up on older dodge wheels, I'll keep an eye on CL. I am open to 16" if my calipers won't rub (I believe I have single piston, RM300 73 Braze 20 with 440), but I can't seem to confirm if the calipers will fit. Not interested in shaving them down.

M300 (RM300) chassis is single caliper.  M400 (RM350), M500 (RM400), and M600 were all dual caliper.

Thanks, so if I have a RM300 the coined 16" will clear the calipers?

I have read that here onsite however I have a M400 so have never done it myself.
