I have owned my rig now for 10 years, some of the upper marker lights are original and some I replaced back before led's were around.
They now have gotten old and brittle. some of them work some of them don't.

I'm thinking it's time to replace the Front orange 7 with yellow LED and the back red 7 with LED. anyone been on this bandwagon before? any tips?

I'm wondering is a more Flush led would fit look better? from what I remember there was pretty good sizes holes behind those lights.

For what its worth,

Most people swap out to LED's for one (or both) of two reasons. 1. They use less power than a incandescent, and on our older rigs, the less power consumed, the better. 2. They are promoted as lasting significantly longer.

We do state inspections here on large trucks with clearance lights regularly, and it has been our personal experience that LED lights exposed to the elements do not last that long. Seems 5-6 years on originals, and a year or two on aftermarket units is the norm. The downside is, when the LED goes out, you have to replace the whole assembly, and pay the extra cost again, vs. just the bulb.

Incandescent assemblies cost less, are serviceable, and seem to last 10+ years of constant outdoor exposure before they start giving you problems from corrosion or UV exposure. Plus, bulbs are cheap, easy to carry, and don't really take up any space.  LED's only share two of those three traits.

I had to replace all the roof marker lights on my Windcruiser, and I went with all incandescent assemblies, because they were 40-60% cheaper. I did buy one LED for the rear, and replaced the center light with it. All were new, and were replaced at the same time. Time will tell if the LED outlasts the rest of the bunch.

Quality LED'S last a long time, I have replaced all side markers on a class C that I used to own, the kids have it now when they first came out, no problems to date (we live outside Seattle and the coach lives in the elements), the thing about LED's is you get what you pay for, stay away from the cheap 12 for 15 dollar deals on feebay and buy quality at a good Truck Stop and you'll be fine, same goes for interior replacement bulbs, I ordered a deal pkg off ebay and a candle gives off more lite than the ones I bought, good thing they were cheap and got filed in the trash can, went with bulbs from M$ products, very very satisfied!
