HI!
I have a 76 D19 Brave with a 318 that has been sitting a while. I drove it from Arizona to Portland Oregon no problem except for a few minor breakdowns. (CRAZY IDEA!) I just went through all of the tune up  things I could do recently, put fresh gas in it, fuel filter, belts, water pump, fluids, replaced old cracked lines, and removed the non working air conditioner. Tried starting her up again and no luck. wont stay on long and now it just turns consistently without firing. Doesn't even make a starving for gas noise or a chug of any kind like shes trying to turn over. Took the filter off and checked the carb. Yup, we got fuel in the lines so I know the pump is working. The forums mentioned a ballast resistor but I cant seem to find it on this particular rig. Does anyone know where this might be and could that be the problem?  i??
Please post a pic not a diagram if you know where yours is if you can. Thanks! :)

Also I have a "hotwire special" wire coming out of the doghouse that I have to put the 2 wires together to get it to turn over with the key in the ignition. I believe it is connected to a starter coil at the bottom of the drivers side with wires coming off of that coil heading to the battery compartment coil.  I bought it like this and it started up fine. Thank you for your help!

Hello ...... Locate your coil and follow the positive lead to the ballast resistor. You can also trace the wire from the IGN terminal on your starter switch either wire should end up at the resistor. You may want to trace the two wires you connect to start your engine one may also go to the resistor ... ☺
