The knob that controls the off/pilot/gas on the hot water heater broke
i have been using plyers to swtch it from one to the other,
I don't have a winnie, i have a 76 brougham class c,
not even sure what brand the water heater is, i'll look tonight,
guy at the rv store told me over the phone that knobs are not available that i would need the whole lighting control box thing(whatever it called) is this true
the water heater works good, hate to replace something  just for a knob, and my wife doesn't like using the plyers if i'm not there to do it
and idea or suggestions would be great

Chicknnhead-
I had the same problem, but I found that a knob off a Coleman gas stove or lantern (the gas, pump-up kind you used to use for camping with a tent ) will work. You just need to adapt it a bit. Find a screw that goes into your controller, then put a little epoxy in the hole of the Coleman knob and tighten it down. Wait for the epoxy to set, and when it is, light the unit. Then get a small triangle file and mark indexs for "off", "pilot" and "on". Mine works well.
