In my 72 brave when I turn on the water compressor the toilet runs constantly and fills. Is there a valve to turn this on and shouldn't it only run when I step on the flush pedal?

Your toilet should only flush when activated.  It's likely that the valve which connects to the step pedal has a bad gasket, is sticking open, or is just plain shot.  If you have an OEM toilet, you can possibly find the parts at a junkyard.  If not, you may need to check the resource section's RV junkyards.  Possibly an RV dealer will have it or you can also check the Winnebago parts source as well. - MrFlushWell

My original crapper had foot flush (pull up to fill, step to flush)
I hated it every day until I took it out.
the valve broke somehow and it would fill by itself and, on occasion, fill the whole darn black tank if I wasn't there to see it happen.

answer:
Aqua magic V hand flush jobber (around $100). No fuss, no muss, and not mustard yellow!

If your toilet keeps running, try sitting on it, or just setting something heavy on the seat cover, like books or a propane tank.  That ought to keep the bugger in one place!  In any event, it's probably best to keep the doors and windows closed, just in case it breaks free.  You don't want it running away, only to find it's gone when you really need it!

sorry, it had to be said!

Had that problem with mine!  I have a large model so, I had to add 2 dead bolts and braces to the bathroom door.  I can tell you one thing, the french models (Toilettes), are a lot smarter than they look!  I thought I had the situation well in hand, went in to do my dootie one day, and found my expensive, pedigreed Toilette gone and the roof vent wide open (It was also designed as an escape hatch, 25" x 25" opening with emergency release handle).  The towels had been knotted together and were hanging down from the hatch.  I did have it tattooed for ID purposes and I've posted "missing" flyers all over.  If it doesn't come home soon, you may see a picture of it on the side of a milk carton.  - Sob

The knotted towels sound like they were Planted , so you'd think the Toilette escaped on it's own . Looks more like it was abducted and being held for ransome , or posiblly in exchange for a missing Feline . I wouln't contact the athorities if I were you . Sea Hag
