Does anyone know where I can get a piece of aluminum coil stock cut to length for a roof repair. I want to have as few places to leak as possible. I have all the rest of the material for the job ( I think). Also does anyone have a source for low cost stainless steel fasteners, the marine dealers seem very expensive.

                                                    Thanks, John

In the resource links on this site is the name of AllRite corp, who supplies aluminum in various patterns. I would think they would have whatever exists. Also you could try businesses in your area that do work on campers, trailers, motorhomes. They might be willing to sell you a roll.
I saw a posting on some web-site, cant recall which, where a guy got a sheet of .040 aluminum from a Freightliner business - a repair place I guess.
I dont know if winnebago made their aluminum skins out of sections seamed together for economical reasons - I believe it was cheaper to make up from 4 ft sections turned 90 degrees than to make it from 8 ft wide rolls; or if they did it in order to allow for some expansion/contraction of the aluminum with less movement along its overall length, at the screw holes where it is held to the sides. I plan to reroof mine with the seamed aluminum .025 inch material, unless I learn better in the next year.
A hardware store might be the place for low cost stainless fasteners - though low cost is relative. I find the stainless to be at least 3 times the cost of regular steel parts or sometimes more; and the hardware stores usually don’t carry a full product line by any means. For instance I needed 7/16ths bolts 2-5/8th inch long, and 2-1/2 was too short, 3 inch was too long. I had to cut down the 3 bolts that the hardware store had. I could have bought the exact items from an aircraft supply outlet, but that place only sells in 'box' quantities of 100.

You might give AirParts, Inc. a try.  I have bought lots of aluminum and various other items from them, but they aren't too far from me so shipping wasn't involved.  Very nice people to work with.  Not a big business place, more like a Mom and Pop place.  Here's the link: http://airpartsinc.com/
