Alternator: a P style 3 stage regulator?

I was looking on ebay and noticed 3 stage voltage regulators for P style alternators.Is that what we have on our Dodges? (mine's a 79 440). Seems like it would be a nice way to get a faster charge into our batteries on these rigs.Anyone tried it yet BTW?

Any chance of fitting a second alternator?
