A couple of years ago I ended my battery charging problems on a
recommendation from a fellow engineer to get a unit from Xantrex. I bought a "True charge 10TB" which charges both the engine battery and the big/dual house battery(s) at up to 10A each (they make bigger units also).

They make 3 and 4 stage units. My 3-stage 10TB goes through bulk, absorption, and float cycles and every 21 days tops them off - all automatically - A far cry from what you buy at the auto parts store!
Shop around for the best dealer. Mine cost about $130.

Got rid of your converter too,eh? Any buzzing in the 12 volt side with it? I have heard this is a absolutely great option.

BooBoo,
I guess my inverter (converter?) did not have the charging option.  Anyway, all of my battery charging problems have gone away with the 10TB.
