Adding Fuel Selector Valve to Connect Indepenent Tanks

Ok! Lets see if I can explain this right. I have two fuel tanks. One at the front (main) with a non-working fuel gauge.

The second fuel tank is at the rear( totally independent of the front tank for the generator) with a working fuel gauge.

What I want to do is use this fuel selector valve to draw fuel from the main tank back through the rear tank with the working fuel gauge back up to the engine. Does the fuel pump have enough oomph to draw the fuel back to the engine?  Hm?
