I have a 1968 Winne Brave, Dodge 318cu, M-300 frame. It has been used by family members since 1984. I noticed that there is no air filter cartridge or dust collector in the engine air filter unit. It is just filled with oil. I was told there was never one in it. Is this correct or does it need a cartridge filter also?

Thanks,
Bob

The earliest Winnebago Ford straight 6 had oil baths for the air cleaning system.  It's not likely the same was true of the Dodges, but not impossible.  One thing we've discovered about the vintage Winnebagos is that there are always exceptions to the rules.  It's also very possible that the air cleaner system was changed to an oil bath too.

I'd suggest just going with a replaceable filter element.
