Channel edging?

Is edging the channels that have flexible plastic in them? If so, what is that plastic called, my rig has the channels, but a lot of them are missing the plastic and filled with junk in what I would call bad attempts to seal them.

Where are these channels located?
1969 D22, 2 x 1974 D24 Indians, 1977 27' Itasca

Stripe

Two channels running down each side, two per side one parallel to the ground on the roof near corner on the side, the other 90 degrees relative to ground very close to the top, one on the border between the plastic and aluminum roof near the front.  On what looks like seams on a couple of the corners of the rig.

If you look at the link I provided, there is one channel right near the very top of the RV.
