I was wondering if anyone has added an auxiliary tank for there generator, I would like to have a 1 to 2 gallon tank in the compartment with the gen so I never have to fill the fuel tank for the RV itself. I would just have a tank just for the generator. I'm a full timer and dont use the gen much only when the power goes out.

On my previous RV I ran a hose directly into a marine fuel tank that had wheels on it and just set it under the RV until it was time to move again..
Mine was similar to this but with wheels..

Do you think it would be safe to mount one directly in the gen area, like a metal tank?

Mine has a steel tank mounted beside generator. Engine runs on propane hence no main fuel tank to tap into, Can post a picture if you want.

I sure wouldn't want to be in your RV with a fuel tank in the generator compartment. Have you ever noticed how much heat the genny creates? Heat will make the fuel in the tank vaporize, then ignite very easily. That's why RV gennys pull fuel from the main tank. Don't do it.
