72 brave with 318 dies when pushing brake pedal

I put new fuel filters in and still no gas to carb except enough to idle but good pressure to carb so fuel pump is working. Got a rebuild kit for carb but havnt got to it yet. I did see a larger hard plastic tube (black in color) that comes out near brake pedal and steering column prob. a 3/8 tube but there was no vacuum coming from it when it was in idle and running. Not sure if that has something to do with the brake problems or not like some have suggested on here. Worth looking into though. Its been real cold out and I am healing up some broken ribs so I havnt been working on it as much as I want to. I will keep updates as I make progress or not.lol. I am making progress a little at a time and I am grateful for the input of all members who have responded. Thanks much guys.

Best of luck man. and hell. I remember healing a few ribs back in my hockey days. man I was in pain  breathing. might be a while before you feel up to crawling up and down on your rig. Hope you start to feel better sooner then later.

Thanks cosmic. IT hasn't stopped me but definitely slowing me down.Wife keeps telling me to take it easy but I cant work so I gotta stay busy. I will have it running soon, Im determined and think I am on the right track. Actualy leaving now to get parts I found on cl for my other project im trying to finish  before I put her in storage for the winter. My baby 2001 mustang GT and adding mods to wifes 2000 mustang GT convertible. So I will be working on Winnie and stang tomorrow if wife lets me.lol!

Ok guys, its been awhile since i posted anything on my winnie project but just got around to working on it again today. I rebuilt the carter carb yesterday and got it installed today. Motor fired right up which surprised me being 16 degrees out but anyway ran better than ever , I still need some adjustments on choke I think. butterfly doesnt seem to move much when accelerating but runs fairly smooth and doesnt die anymore when you push down on gas pedal. I was very pleased since this was my first carb rebuild and seems to be working as it should. now for the bad news. Decided to take it for a drive and it did good but seemed like something was holding it back. I was thinkng possibly the brakes since when I first bought it n drove home they were somewhat siezed up( took awhile to get it to move at first). Anyhow drove it forwards and backwards a few times and that seemed to help so took it out on our country road and did pretty good but still seemed like motor was working to hard to get going. Brought it back home n made a couple adjustments and me n wife (her first ride in it ) went back out. Drove a few miles out, turned around and was running fairly good till couple blocks from home it sputtered and died uphill. Wouldnt restart n seemed to barely crankover. went and got my truck n straps and towed her home. I think it is either voltage regulator again or overheated. Looks like same sticky residue dripping out of regulator but not sure and seen some antifreeze had dripped on valvecover but gauge was reading normal not that it that means its working properly.lol. Gonna let it sit awhile and cool down then try to restart. If it starts I know it overheated otherwise wait for parts store to open after holidays n get new regulator but means there is a short im assuming causing it to burn out. Any suggestions on that?

OH. I solved that problem by rebiulding the carb. Carb was not getting any gas and was dieing when putting in gear and while pushing brake pedal. just put carb on today and ran great till voltage regulator burned up again. Im thinking bad alernator or bad wiring. Gonna have alternator tested and check wiring after christmas. Thanks for the advise though.
