Let me fill you in

No juice to minimal juice comings from driver front speaker,

Playing with the knobs help sometimes,

Bad wiring with no deterarion or bad deck/fader knobs?

Stripe

Probably an AC / Delco.

Myself, I would pull it from the dash, double check the wiring, connectors, voltages and for added extra measurement, give it a good dusting with a can of air.

I've actually rebuilt one of those. had to do some resoldering on a couple spots and replace the rubber capstans as well which are still obtainable (ex. http://www.terrysrubberrollers.com/)
A little cleaning goes a long way though.

The deck begs to differ, says Motorola in the center, I fixed the issue, re wired and concluded that two speaker wires from the stereo output was dead. It clicks in and out.

DISABLED THE fader knob/stereo set up to the right of the stereo.

Now, here's the new issue.
Wiring 4 speaker wires off off 1 set of + and - speaker wires coming from the deck (Needs branching)
I cut out more then 6 wires to my deck, $$$ was everywhere!

Anyway any knob based fader with 2 wire input and a 4 wire output.
Must be a 6 point fader.

Stripe

Ooh, Motorola, even better!
If I remember correctly the wire colors were, Speakers:  Pink=Front Left, White=Front Right, Orange=Rear Left, Blue=Rear Right, Green=Common Speaker Ground
Power: Red=Positive 12V, Black=Negative Ground.

If I may ask, what exactly are you trying to achieve with the radio??  I have an extra newer model I can give you if you want it.

Replace it with a CD player...a lot more choices in music later on down the line than old 8 tracks of Saturday Night Fever and Johnny Cash!

I'm stoked on the "rubber wheel" link Stripe, my 8-track in the fmc sputters/skips when you put the tape in. I think it may be that wheel or something? I didn't know you can replace? Im excited about trying to fix it in the future so I can play my sweet 8-track collection :)

I'll tell you what, you google 8-track car player with radio and their is a list of pricey stuff..  The home players, not so pricey..  :)  Collectors items I guess..

Yay!  Captain and Taneil, Dance Fever, Neil Young, Tom Jones, and Elvis are gonna be rocking it out on the highway!...lol!  All in good fun, by the way.  I had an old 78 Lincoln Continental 4 door with Quadraphonic Sound with an 8 track, and the sound really was amazing!  You just can't get REAL sound from a digital system, and an 8 track is analog.

Hope you don't mind the teasing.  I had pretty much every John Denver album on 8 track in that car, as well as Journey, etc...lol!

I had a Baby Blue '76 Two Door, I loved that car/Land Yacht..  You could land a Sea King on the hood of that thing!
Looked exactly like this only the paint wasn't as glossy anymore.  http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:1976_Lincoln_Continental_Mark_IV_Givenchy_designer_series_(rear).jpg
I'd probably still have it today if the brake lines hadn't failed and rammed into a jersey barrier.

BTW I LOVE Elvis, The Capt. And Tennille(hehe, Muskrat Love) and Tom Jones(It's Not Unusual!)! And somewhere I have my parents *tracks of them and some of my Linda Ronstadt, love Blue Bayou..

Hi from Gone to the Dawgs! 1987 Tiffin Allegro in Deale MD. CW Rocks!!!

:)rotflmao I just traded mine for a Kobota Zero turn mower. The mower that was worth eight grand. Not bad for an old land yacht

+1 for 8-tracks and repairs thereof.
I had a '76 Firebird that came with its original set and a bunch of tapes and it sounded great.  My favourite was Lou Reed's Rock and Roll animal.
I've toyed with the idea getting another one to go with a couple of early Rockford Fosgate amplifiers I snagged off ebay - just to add to a growing list of obselete format projects.
Unless you're spending a lot of money I don't think hi-fi has really improved much since the early '90s, except speakers which have definitely got a lot better through new polymer tech.  Certainly the older stuff is more repairable and it was better built to start with - you just have to feel the weight of it to know that !
........nostalgia is not what it used to be

I still love listening to LP's too, I guess when you grow up listening to the scratches...it's all good!!

I see those big Lincoln boats on craigslist alot (nice ones too), for not much money....talk about a smooth cruiser. I would have one, but the woman won't go there.... W%

My all time favorite 8-track is "Wind on the Water" Crosby and Nash...My cousins in laws gave there 8-track collection in the year 2000 or something, and that one was in it..I loved David Crosby's music anyway, but never listened to him and Graham's compilations together at that point..Huge fan!

Mine is the one without the 8track tape.

And mine gets some pretty good reception now after rewiring. And the deck sounds like it was a brand new deck. mint condition, I am just going to buy a direct antenna mp3 player cable.

But I still need a  fader knob fused. For my rears.

Sounds so good with the two front vintage speakers, all I need is 1 12 subwoofer 500w with a mid pitch output.

So it can catch the "pats" off the base without rumble.
Redone not replacing of any speaker tears.

TheSportsmanDodger

I know it sounds crazy, I am still very young, my motive is to restore to former glory. Anyone can put bells and whistles on a busted up car, but is it original.

That is why I love auto mechanics.  The thrill of a old beast burning out on them young cars that have not even got a tail pipe wet.
The other thrill is seeing 4 cylinder cars rip holes around the competition.  I am vintage period.

But I also like  tuners.

That is the guy you want fixing your cars :P

TheSportsmanDodger

Lol you make me sound throw back! Just love, that's what keeps old RVs in check. If no love is in them, that's how they become giant restoration projects with good engines and trannys.

TheSportsmanDodger

Yeah, I tell you what that player comes in clear as a whistle now, I was doing the final clean up and I cut that sucker on and man they where playing the 90s cuts. I jammed with haste. Tommarrow will be roof knock out time if the weather's good, sealed up max protection...
