i have a 72 indian with a 413 dodge my throttle cable is attached to the gas pedal via a cable and a ball.  the cable mounts to the pedal assembly with a little ball that it clips onto.  my cable will not stay attached to the ball.  as soon as you hit the pedal it pops back off the ball mount.  worked fine all summer was going to start it up to let it run all little as i have parked it for winter and this cable keeps popping off this little ball.  any suggestions on this is greatly appreciated......swabby

Mine did this all the time until I finally replaced the cable and ball. It always happened at the worst time, usually at night and on the road going somewhere. After I bought a new cable I realized that my clip was missing to hold it onto the ball, plus the ball and socket on the cable was worn. After installing a new cable I have had a problem. If you cannot find a new cable, comes w/ ball, you can criss-cross 2 zipties (somewhat difficult to do) around the cable and ball bracket, I did that for about 1.5 years before I got my new cable.
