I went through all off em on ebay ....none of them match to a T.

Has anyone had experience swapping one that doesn't look the same but will function correctly once installed.

I really hate buying stuff and then having to try and resell it on ebay at a loss

You have to remove your old one and look at the plug in. Some have what  looks like 2 wires and some have a 4 wire plug. Yours may have been installed by the coach manufacturer and may be a bit different than oem. The price varies quite a bit even for the same style. You have to look at what style the plug in is to see if it will work. Looks like how they attach is the same on the older  GM stuff.

Do you have any numbers on the bottom of your switch? This would be on the plastic closest to the column on the underside. I have been working under my dash and I noticed numbers on mine and it appears to be a newer switch. I will try to remember to get those numbers tonight.

pvoth1111

I do....though I've searched the number and it does me no good

Dang! I put my seat back in and forgot to get the number. I will get some pictures tomorrow of it. it is not the same format of number so maybe it may help. Mine is an 89 so should be about the same. It appears to be newer.

pvoth1111

My chassis is 89 though its late 89 as I have carb......

Mine is also an 89 with a carb, we ought to check serial numbers. Mine is a 31rt, they don't get much closer together. It is pouring out right now, I will get out there with the camera when it lets up.

pvoth1111

mine is 31RQ.....built 8/89........VIN 3325172.......

OK, The number on my turn signal is different. Here is a picture of it.

Rickf1985

My VIN is 3301423. That is the GM number for motor vehicle. The serial number should be the Winnebago number I believe. Mine is 280364.
The VIN numbers are 23,749 apart. I can guarantee you they did not build that many Winnies! That is the number of all of the Chevy P30 chassis made between ours. Lets see how much difference is in the serials.

Its weird how such similar models can have such different component's....perhaps I can fin one that looks like yours.

8,771! Could they have possibly have built that many of these in one year? I have the original invoice for mine and they paid 71,000 plus for it! Fair amount of money in 1989.

Rickf1985

I just thought about it, the serial numbers are probably inclusive of the entire Winnebago line including everything from tent trailers and tow behinds to fifth wheels an all sizes of motor homes. Still, That is a LOT of equipment in one or two years. I wonder if Itasca was included in that?

Rickf1985

And I just noticed that the date of manufacture on mine is 08/88. The date of sale is 09/88. Why is my title 1989? I guess it sat on the lot until 1989?

pvoth1111

They probably bought a bunch of chassis from chevy and then sat on em....mine a 90, but the chassis is an 89....I would have rather had then fuel injection from 1990.

RV mfg has to order chassis early so it is normal for say a 1990 rig to be built on a 1989 chassis.
I have a 78 on a 77 chassis.

And it's very common, even back into the early 70s.

Back to the control lever topic, please.

I crawled up the dash....good times....directly from the lever is/are a bundle of wires....there are three connectors...two connectors go to a black box and one goes in to the loom....ill be if I can find anything that looks like it....still looking.....this thing has to match up to something out there.

My cruise control module is inside on the firewall, or used to be, the tape let go and it is on the floor. It is an aftermarket but I forget the name on it. I will try to get a pic of that for you but I am back to work tomorrow so it will be a bit.
