06 - Replacing the old air conditioner

Previous Image | Next Image
Description: The original Coleman was on it's last leg and had served well for over 30 years, so it was time to replace it.  I chose a Carrier V.

Removal and installation of a roof air conditioner is really easy.  Only a couple wires and a few screws.  But they are heavy.  A 13,000 btu model weighs right around 100lbs.  Whether repacing or just removing yours, be sure to carefully  place it correctly the first time as the seal has double sided sticky tape on it and once you''ve set the air conditioner on, that's where it's going to stay.

The sponge seal should come with instructions on how much it should be compressed.  I added a layer of the standard Eternabond tape on both sides, just to be sure that I have a long lasting, waterproof seal.
