Hi All! I just found out about this, and I thought I'd share it with the group.

Viking Cylinders makes propane cylinders that are lighter weight then traditional tanks and supposedly safer to boot. They are corrosion proof, and have a visible propane level thanks to their semi-translucent exterior.

I just thought these seem really cool. Has anyone heard of or seen these before? What do we think?

I am pretty sure these were all recalled and on top of that it was done without reimbursement to the owners that already have them. You might want to do a bit of serious research on these. They may have come up with something new since I saw that but it was only a year ago.

Not all composite cylinders were recalled, only cylinders manufactured by the "Lite Cylinder Company" - not the Viking Company.

From the US DOT identify exactly which ones:

Lite Cylinder Company became insolvent shortly thereafter.

There are no records of Viking tanks being recalled.

Another manufacturer to look at for composite LP tanks is "Trident"

Viking also mentions it in their FAQ:

Apparently, cylinders made by their parent company were expressly excluded from the recall.
