69 D24 windshield wiper motor replacement

I see wiper motors on eBay that look like they might work as a replacement for my M300.  My motor has a hard stop about it as I rotate it by hand.  If I force it on it will continue to turn until it hits the hard stop again.  This causes the fuse to blow when hooked up to power.  I've considered tearing it apart to see what has failed and attempt to fix it but would rather just replace the thing if it turns out that this motor is common- even for a vintage 69.  Any advice?  I still have tons of posts to read through... its so busy and takes a lot of time to read through subjects and all the comments while avoiding getting distracted:\
