As to the R22 I think you need a license for that..

Some house central ACs use R-22. Maybe house AC serviceman can do it for you.

As to my response. how long do you think the pressurized unit would stay sealed for with that mechanism clamped on there.

My storage lot Landlord owns a HVAC company here in Seatle. He says if the valve is installed correctly, it won't leak. He also says he can get R22 as well..

Oh Heck, I had a 220 V 20,000 BTU AC with those on it I Got from a Local Bar had been sitting unused for a few years, I brought it home made a 220 cord, cleaned it up real good (it was quite nasty with Grease and dirt from kitchen in bar) Once I t was cleaned it worked fine.
So as far as sealing well and not leaking Refrigerant I can say the one i had worked great.
I have been wondering what those were called, I have been wondering about recharging or at least topping off AC units that are closed systems.
I picked up one if the AC gauge units a couple years ago and have used it on the Vehicles a couple times, I hate the idea of having to pay a Huge amount of $ for something so simple as topping off the system.
Of course there are times when things just can't be fixed that easy like when the Dehydrators/Desiccant filters are plugged or dead, compressors that are dead or weak not to mention if the system needs to be vacuumed out it should be done by a company that can recover the refrigerant rather then letting it escape into the atmosphere.

Well, three weeks after recharging my 1985 Coleman Mach III... and she's still blowing icy cold!! Was 70Â° outside yesterday and I was getting 46Â° out the vents
