I have a 72 18 ' brave 318-3. I last time i was on the road at night the headlights would get dim my gauge would drop then after a few miles the lights would get bright and the gauge would go up to normal. Is this my voltage regulator and if it is where is it located. Thanks  Chris

The voltage regulator is probably the cause - they start to do that, but may work more or less for a long time before they really stop charging completely. The VR is located at the top rear of the motor. If you look down into the engine access hole, the VR is usually mounted to a bracket that is bolted to the bell housing of the tranny. They are a very common VR, the same one was used on most full size mopar products all through the 1970s. I would just ask for a VR for a 72 or 73 Dodge pickup truck.
