What's a Voltage Limiter?

Does anybody remember someone talking about replacing a fuse on the insterment panel of a 75?  Do you know where they got a replacement or the part number. None of the gauges worked.  T.J.

I'm not sure about a fuse ,but there is a Voltage Limiter plugged into the back of the dash printed circuit board ( it is rectangular similar to a block type fuse ), It supplies a steady voltage for impedance sensitive gauges if this goes bad no voltage will go to the Fuel  or temperature gauge and possibly oil gauge if electronic . a simple test for this is to connect a voltage meter to the temp sending unit or wire and a good known ground source , with ignition on you should have a variable voltage around 7 volts if it is good . another common problem with the printed dash circuit is the ground . you might try a jumper wire to the ground terminals of the board a good ground source . my parts manual is limited for 75 and only list the complete board with no diagram of this style dash or listing for a voltage Limiter  , if it test bad try inquireing the part by name -- Hope this helps --- Sea Hag

My parts catalog only talks about that voltage limiter, and two fusible links, both 18 guage. No fuses as such. It has no pictorial diagram for the dashboard wiring though. I suppose its possible winnebago added a fuse for something related to the coach lights or a cruise control, but that wouldnt affect the gauges. The volt-limiter sure would. The way mine supplies a steady voltage reference is by being on and off, on and off, 7/12ths of the time. It cycles about once a second - can hear the soft clicks on the a.m. radio. denison

For reference,
If memory serves me correctly, when Dodge went to the new dash in 74, they moved the voltage limiter to inside the Fuel Gauge.
73 and earlier have the external limiter.
