Wheel specifications needed for 1972 D20

does anyone know the wheel specs for a 72 d-20 brave. I need tires and i am thinking of new rims but need the backspacing and bolt patern.

I've seen at least 3 different wheel/axle combinations under '73 D22s like mine.   I doubt there was any greater consistency on the '72s.    I could very easily be wrong, but my money says you'll need to ask around to find a capable tire shop or truck shop to take the rig to & get some advice from an experienced, trustworthy mechanic.    Good luck trying to figure out which is which.   My experience is that the independent shops have a wider knowedge base, especially if you get the guy whose been there the longest.

I found a good source for vintage tire sizes just the other day. I am into hot rodding and found that Cokertires.com has just the sizes we need for our vintage rigs. I know my 1973 Winne needs a 7.50x17 tire. I asked around a few truck repair shops here in Barstow, CA and they told me to go the junk yards and look for a 16 inch rim. For some reason I feel if I took the time to do this it would be in vain being that with my Dodge chassis I have a 5 lug rim. I'm almost certain that I'd be looking for a long time for a 16" replacement. So, when I got home I remembered that Coker Tires recreates vintage tire sizes for the restoration purist and best of all is that these are made with modern technology. I found that a 10 ply in my size is gonna run me $130-150 or so. Not too bad considering there is somebody out there making these extinct sizes for the old cars and trucks.

Backspacing is not listed in the service manual
69 - 77 used Bias ply tires as OE.  Many people mount radials (Yokohoma) on the bias rims.  The bias rim was not really designed for radial tires so keep an eye out for a cracked rim.

I just bought new wheels for my 1972 Starcraft Starcruiser. I got them from SouthWest Wheel Co. The Starcraft is on a Dodge M300 Chassis The Part # is NW 129383  X-45399 16x6 Cico Dual Wheel He sold them to me for 85.95 each plus shipping. You can mount   235-85-16 radials on these to replace the Bias tires.
