Need Sources for Windshield Washer Reservoir & Pump

Where do u suppose I can get a washer fluid reservoir and pump for my '71 D22?  I assume it goes in front of the radiator. Mine are missing

This is a common issue.  Missing or cracked reservoirs and inoperative pumps.  No new reservoirs can be found that we know of and you don't need an original pump replacement for it to work.

Fluid Reservoir:  you can custom mount all kinds of reservoirs found in the junkyard.  I did this with mine,  Very easy modification & the cheapest way to go.  It can be mounted anywhere you have the room for it.

Washer Pumps:  New or used, any will work.

Washer fluid tubing and any fittings needed are readily available at any auto parts store.

I could not find a universal reservoir so I used a radiator over flow container. Mounted it on its side. Bought a separate washer pump, bought new rubber hose and plumbed the same way. Works just fine. The funny question I get asked is what’s in your over flow can, it’s blue.

I used a one gallon plastic gas can mounted on a battery tray.  That way, I can always get a replacement reservoir that is the same shape and size.  I did the same thing for the radiator overflow.  Rick

Its the original container, but the lid was so brittle it crumbled.  I skim coated it with Duraglass, sanded it down and painted it black.  The pump I picked up at the local auto parts store, just a standard off the shelf washer pump.  Even came with the bracket to screw it onto the lid.  The old pump was seized up.

Now for the bad, the container is kinda on the small side.   I like Ricks 1 gallon plastic can idea.  That might be one of my next projects.

Yesterday my LMC (ford) catalog came in the mail. While thumbing through, I saw a universal windshield washer kit, Part number 47-4087. It includes the bottle with built in pump, push button switch, 7.5 feet of line, nozzles mounting bracket for only 19.95. Wow I always forget to look through these guys for odd parts. Looks like I will be purchasing one. I can take the jury rigged unit I have now and run a separate hose in the dash. Looks like it will hold a fifth of rum. Push the button and fill your glass!

Ran across the tank and motor while looking for something else.  Looks like it would work for most winnie applications.

Also, in Canada, Princess Auto sells a "universal" kit for $20. It often goes on sale 1/2 price.

Mine was gone. I went to the junkyard and got a bottle w/ pump out of a 1984 Ford van. Works beautiful!

Dude, that kit rocks! This is just one, good example of the many things to which alternative options can be readily applied.
