I have a 69 D22. The light bulbs were missing in the range hood and the bath cabinet. I put standard 25 watt bulbs in, and when they didn't work, I spent a few hours tracing wires, looking for shorts, checking voltages and came to realize these fixtures must require a 12 volt DC bulb. Is that right?

They are on the same circuit as the DC lights and the range hood works on that circuit. It threw me because the fixture takes a standard base incandesent bulb.

Try your local Wal-Mart,  they have a small RV section in the automotive area,  I bought the 12 volt bulbs that look like a normal 110v ac type there.

The Range hood in my 71 chief has a 12v bulb that resembles a night light bulb.  I was finaly able to find it at lowes in thier specialty bulb section.

These are the same bulbs that are used in the portable 12V drop lights. I've seen replacements at Lowe's, Home Depot, Pep Boys, Car Quest and of course just about every camping store you can find.
