Dodge Engine & other parts (440-3) where should I go? Napa?

When looking for engine parts (it is the 440-3) where should I go? Napa? Should I look under Dodge truck RM400 or D300? What if I need to get brake parts? Need to get tranny gasket and filter and carb rebuild kit. I'm having a really hard time finding this stuff. Any guidance you can offer would be greatly, greatly appreciated.

It can be helpful to locate the part number you need yourself, as most countermen are not like they were when I was a Napa rep. If it's not in the computer, they are lost...

As mentioned, for most mechanical parts, tell them it's a 1973-1974 D-350 Dodge 1-ton.
The thermostat, gasket, waterpump, intake manifold gaskets, exhaust manifold gaskets, and a few other odds & ends are unique to the 440-3 engines... so it always helps to bring your old parts so they can be matched. 99% of parts will have a part number on them somewhere.. might be barely visible, but it should be there. In most cases that can be used as a reference to cross match.

Most brake parts are going to be difficult to locate unfortunately. There is a supplier named Alretta Brake Parts. http://alrettatruckparts.com/  Ask for Geoff   He specializes in the Dodge M-400-M-600 brake parts... and is virtually the only source of some Hydroboost parts in the entire country.
Transmission parts can be the same as a 1 ton Dodge truck/van.. or different... depending on what part you are needing. The Motorhomes used a 727 LoadFlyte transmission, the trucks used a 727 TorqueFlyte transmission. Same case, same linkages, different bands,clutches, and some internals... the LoadFlyte was rated for up to 15,000lbs.. the TorqueFlyte was rated for up to 10,000lbs. pan & filters were the same I think.. but be sure to match to your old pan gasket & filter.

Was not unusual for Winnebago to host current year rig (i.e. 1974) on previous year chassis (i.e. 1973).   FInd your Dodge VIN plate and decode it to make sure you know the year of your chassis.  Can make a big difference in brake application.

Get a copy of the service manual and parts manual from the site Store.  Use P/N cross reference feature at NAPA or most parts sites to locate the aftermarket P/N.

As described in the 74/75 manual supplement, Dodge redesignated the RM400 to M500.  Easy way to tell if you have a M500 chassis is you will have 19.5" tires with 5 bolt rims.  This can create a lot of confusion because they also redesignated the RM350 to M400 at the same time.  The M400 [RM350] will have 17.5" tires with 8 bolt rims.  Chassis parts for the two chassis' (M500 [RM400]; M400 [RM350]) are very different so make sure you look for the correct information.   Most parts places will list support for the M500 rather than a RM400.

In general, brake parts for the Motorhome chassis do not directly cross over to the truck chassis.  Brake parts are normally motorhome chassis unique. That's why I always cross ref Dodge P/N from the Motorhome parts manual.  I have always found M400 parts elsewhere with few problems.  Alretta is very expensive compaired to normal suppliers.

Most brake parts for the M500 [RM400] chassis are listed over at the Raybestos web site:  http://www.raybestosbrakes.com/magnoliaPublic/home/catalog.html under medium duty truck.   You will have to work the year range 1973 to 1975.  The M500 [RM400] has 15" x 4" brakes.
