I was crawling under my 1973 D24 Winnebago and noticed a airbag, I think, in the rear suppenstion. There was a line going to an air connection near the passenger side rear wheel well. Are thes for load balancing or ride or stabilization. Also how many pounds of pressure should they carry. Are they original or addon.
Does anyone know if there was 2 different configurations of the D24  sold in 1973. My owners Manual calls for a 318 with 17.5 " wheels. My unit is a 440-3 with 19.5" wheels.

Thanks Treth

Firestone air bags require a minimum of 25 psi. I believe you can inflate them to a maximum of 100 psi to achieve the ride height you would like, or to even out a side to side inconsistency. I have them on my 75 Brave (D21) with a differential pressure (30psi left and 55psi right side) to accommodate some spring sag and generator weight on the right rear.

I don't know about the 19.5" wheels, except I wish I had them!

Pressure for the rear bags should be between 55 and 65 psi under normal load.  Try them in increments of 5 psi for the best ride.

I tried with the Beggar this weekend wtih the bags set to 55.  Sure was a difference!  It didn't improve the acutal steering much, but it sure did cut down on the "sway"!  Especially on turning, etc.

My "Air rides" call for 40# min & 100# max.
