Trying to get at the heat/ac controls on the dash

Something on my heater/ac controls on my dash snapped They  are right behind my radio. The radio is an after market Kenwood, which has a metal sleeve type box it slips into. I can get the radio out, but can't figure out how to remove the metal box so I can get at the broken controls. Danged plastic anyhow   Any ideas ??

The metal box has little tabs that hold it in place. From inside the box you can release them one at a time while pulling outward on it and it will come out.
