440-3 Radiator Recore Cost?

well I yanked the radiator and took it to the local shop, it is shot  , they want $350.00 for a recore ,  good price or not   i??

$375.00 that's what I payed to have mine done. So I'd say your bang on.  :)ThmbUp

I found that it was about $150.00 for a new one, and that was a lot cheaper than getting mine recored.

I am not sure how much the radiator has to match the original.  I figured as long as it fits, and it pushes enough water I should be fine.  (Remember, I have replaced mine, and the motor runs great, but it has not yet gone on any road trips.)

Hey Bill, I don't mean this to be sarcastic or patronizing but remember you get what you pay for. I'm as frugal as the next guy and I learned this the hard way.

Good deals can be found, for sure, but there is wisdom in TJ's words as well.  As important as being able to fit, it needs to have comparable capacity and flow.  As you said, it will take a good shakedown trip to tell.  I hope you did, in fact, make a good buy!

well , I dropped it off Monday , and picked it up today $340.00 and I know it will drop right in no cobling it to fit.  I was to say at least a bit bummed as it is back in my hands before the long weekend so I know what I will be doing on Saturday... Oh well at least I got the time to do it!
while it was out I pulled the thermostat and it was not the correct skirted type so I will be hunting one of those down tomorrow also.  I have a question on the trans cooler hook up but will ask in a separate post ,

If I remember right it was close to 400 bucks to have the radiator in the Ark recored, so you did well!

In the world of mechanics, I'm afraid I strongly disagree.  The great thing about restoring and repairing these rigs is there really is no wrong way, right way, correct way or better way to do things. There is also no correct price, incorrect price, or even cheap price to make a repair, its all opinionated.  Whats nice about this site is we can share with each other how we conquered a repair job and maybe it will give others ideas how they might also make similar repairs.   

Re-Coring is always nice because when its done, you simply bolt it back up and go, no modifying or making brackets to make it work.  Its a great resolution to a faulty radiator resulting in a good as factory repair.

Installing an aftermarket radiator also has bonuses because if your thrifty you can save some cash and possibly even pull off an upgrade.    But sometimes you have to roll your sleeves up and be ready for some minor modifications.
