Hello all!
I am new to the forum and RV ownership and so happy to be starting both! I have a 1972 Winnebago Indian D-24 and we are starting the daunting task of gutting and redoing the entire inside, stupid maybe but too late to turn back! Anyway I was wondering if it is possible to add a popup/dome(albeit the hottest option) or something like a truck bed camper to the top of the winnie itself. The over the cab sleeper is very tight and with any padding I fear my nose would be very close to the roof. I found a lot about roof repair but not necessarily raising it? Any thoughts on the best options if at all possible? Thanks!

For this project, I would think inside the box.  Look at how VW does theirs and also look at whats available as far as expanding tents that Land Rover owners use that mount to their roofs..

Thanks! Great pictures! I would love to put just the popup part of a Westy on top not sure how that would work logistically with weight or with leaks

The legal height for all vehicles is 13'6". That is the height of most semi trailers on the road. You may find it to be very top heavy and easy to rollover.
